It is a programme that promotes the improvement of educational quality and equity through deep learning. It seeks to promote collaborative learning within the educational communities, among the schools in the network and with its ecosystem.
What do we do?
CHAKA, which means “bridge” in the Aymara language, is a programme created to improve the quality and equity of education, and which promotes deep learning and the integral development of students. It was born from the strategic alliance between Fundación Educacional Luksic and SUMMA. The first stage of the programme is being developed since 2019 until 2024, with five technical-professional establishments in the region of Arica and Parinacota participating. Chaka aims to strengthen teaching and management skills, and promote collaboration within the classroom, institutions, and the CHAKA network. The final goal is to generate a model that can be scaled to other establishments.

To develop effective teaching practices based on collaborative learning, along with metacognitive skills and formative feedback.
To strengthen institutional capacities and managerial leadership, in order to transform teaching practices and achieve deep learning for students.

MS students participate directly in the programme. Potential reach to 4,311 students of all levels and types of education.

PRISA - PANAMA PROGRAMME
It arises from the urgent need to address the educational gaps exacerbated by the pandemic, which have impacted the loss of learning of thousands of Panamanian students. MEDUCA and SUMMA collaborate with professional and technical resources to advance in the policy of learning recovery for the year 2022.
KIX LAC - HUB
The Knowledge and Innovation Exchange Centre (KIX) for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is a space for collaboration and exchange for the innovation of educational leaders from Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
KIX GLOBAL - HONDURAS
The project Adapting and Scaling Approaches to Teacher Professional Development on a scale in Honduras 2020-2022 is part of the Knowledge and Innovation Exchange- GPE-KIX initiative promoted by the Global Partnership for Education and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
SUMMA's evaluation area seeks to rigorously and systematically study the effects and results of educational policies and programmes aimed at improving the quality and equity of the region's educational systems. From an educational justice perspective, the evaluation area deploys diverse methodological strategies, which are both quantitative and qualitative.
Its objective is to identify innovative solutions to address the main educational gaps in the region. In turn, it seeks to strengthen and model educational innovation processes in the region, aimed at guaranteeing the right to education and reducing educational inequalities.
EDU - LAC IMPACT FUND
The Global Fund for the Development of Pilot and Impact Evaluations was born in 2019 from SUMMA's collaboration with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) under the initiative “Building a global ecosystem of evidence for teaching improvement”, funded by the BHP Foundation, as part of its Global Education Equity Programme.
Latin American platform for collaboration with educational impact. It promotes collaboration among the main actors in the educational world. It aims to develop a virtuous ecosystem of collaboration in research and innovation that accelerates educational improvement in the region.

Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM) is an independent, accredited and evidence-based report published by UNESCO. GEM LAC is the Latin American and Caribbean version, prepared by SUMMA in partnership with UNESCO.
